Abstract

Fluoro-esters, -ethers and -acetals are obtained by mixing the corresponding chloroesters, -ethers or -acetals with potassium fluoride in presence of a solvent containing or consisting of acetamide and/or N-methylacetamide, the chloro compounds having a lower boiling point than that of the acetamide. The optimal proportions of ethyl chloroacetate potassium fluoride, and acetamide to give ethyl fluoroacetate, and by a similar method, formaldehyde bis-b -fluoroethyl, and b b 1-difluorodiethyl ether are given.
