Abstract
651,281. Boxes; lids of steam cookers &c. McCURD, W. A. Feb. 23, 1948, No. 5304. Divided out of 651,260. [Group VI] [Classes 18 and 66] [Also in Group XXV] The hinged lid 12 of a hot cupboard provided at the top of a steam cooker is so counterbalanced as to have two stable positions, namely open and closed, and an unstable position between them, and the balance weight constitutes the moving element of a dashpot. The balance weight 16 is pivotally supported on the lid and consitutes the cylinder of the dashpot, and the piston rod 19 of the latter is pivotally connected to a fixed part of the structure. The dashpot is adapted to retard the closing movement of the lid. A spring 22, disposed about the lower end of the piston rod, cushions the opening movement.
