Abstract
649,876. Condenser discharge supply systems for X-ray apparatus. TITTERTON, E. W., and VOORHIES, H. G. Sept. 20, 1948, No. 24619. Convention date, Sept. 26, 1947. [Class 38 (iv)] An X-ray tube 24 is operated by a Manx generator 7 adapted to supply a positive voltage pulse to the anode of the tube simultaneously with a negative voltage pulse which the generator also applies to the cathode of the tube. For this purpose the charging circuit for the generator is connected to intermediate condensers 19, 20 of the resistance-condenser spark gap network and connection 21 between these condensers is grounded. The first spark gaps 42, 43 on opposite sides of the grounded point of the network have triggering electrodes 44, 45 energized in parallel from a pulse transformer 38. The arrangement is stated to reduce insulation, timing and corona discharge problems.
