649,334. Yarn packages; winding transfer tails. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. Oct. 23, 1947, No. 28366. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1946. [Classes 120(ii) and 120(iii)] A yarn package provided with a transfer tail is wound on a package support comprising a barrel, a base flange formed with a recess in the lower face thereof and a hub formed in the middle of said recess, on which hub the transfer tail is wound. As shown, a yarn package support on which such package may be wound, comprises a barrel 5 having a base flange 6 provided with a radial slot 7, an annular recess 8 and a hub 9, which may be flared towards its lower surface, formed in said recess. A broad flat ring 12 of fibre &c. is fitted on the spindle and is provided with an integral annular projection 13 which extends into the recess 8 of the flange 6, for the purpose of guiding yarn fed into the narrow space between the base flange 6 and the ring 12 to the hub 9 on which the transfer tail is to be wound.
