[Class 6(i)] A plough comprises power-driven tools 69 each in the form of a screw propeller having one or more blades and rotating about a longitudinal horizontal axis. As shown, each set of tools 69 is mounted on a truck comprising a frame 63 which slides on two vertical pillars 60 mounted on a pair of wheels. The frame 63 may be raised by liquid or gaseous fluid means. A plurality of trucks are arranged side by side and connected by hooks 57, 58 to a crossbeam 56 carried by a tractor 51. Each truck is provided with a horizontal shaft 65 which drives the tools 69, which shaft is joined to the shaft of the adjacent truck to form two continuous power shafts, one each side of the tractor. The truck immediately behind the tractor is provided with two small shafts joined to the main shafts and having gear wheels 66 cooperating with gears in a transmission shaft 54 of the tractor. For transport the trucks are detached from the beam 56, the outer ends of which fold up alongside the tractor which trucks are connected in line behind the tractor, the tools 69 pivoting about shaft 65 to enable them to be lifted clear of the ground. In a modification the tools are mounted in an assembly which is pivotally mounted on a tractor, the tools being driven either by a separate motor, from a power take-off, or from the tractor driving wheels. In another modification the tools are mounted on a frame mounted on a motor truck, the tools being driven from the motor by gearing including Carden shafts, the frame being lifted by a power driven chain. The machine may be used in conjunction with fertilizer and seedsowing equipment and may also be used for cutting channels for laying pipes.
