Abstract
A solution for colouring textile materials comprises a solution in aqueous caustic alkali of a pre-dyed cellulose ether. Suitable ethers are the methyl, ethyl, hydroxyethyl and benzyl ethers, and they may have been dyed with direct, sulphur, vat, Naphthol, Indigosol or basic mordant dyes. Examples are given of aqueous alkaline solutions of cellulose ethers which have been dyed with Naphthol Red, Anthraquinone Vat Blue, Chlorantine Fast Green BLL and Calcogen Black 5GCF.ALSO:Textile materials are coloured by applying thereto a solution in aqueous caustic alkali solution of a pre-dyed cellulose ether, and then treating with an acid solution to precipitate the dyed cellulose ether on to the fibres of the material. Examples of suitable cellulose ethers are the methyl, ethyl, hydroxyethyl and benzyl ethers, and they may be dyed with direct, sulphur, vat, naphthol, indigosol and basic mordant dyes. The textile material coloured may be of cotton or other natural cellulosic fibres, regenerated celluloses, cellulose acetate, linear polyamides, vinyl resin or of glass. Examples are given in which the fabric is padded with the solution of the dyed cellulose ether in aqueous caustic alkali, then passed through acid boxes containing 5 per cent acetic acid and finally washed. Examples are given of the use of cellulose ethers which have been dyed with Naphthol Red, anthraquinone Vat Blue, Chlorantine Fast Green BLL, and Calcogen Black 5 GCF.
