[Class 103(ii)] A vehicle door consists of a door hinged to a vehicle body and adapted to form part of one. wall of the body, the door itself being provided over a part of its area with a door aperture and a sliding door which can be displaced at will either to cover said aperture or to move substantially within the area represented by the unapertured portion of said hinged door, whereby the sliding door can be made to cover or uncover said aperture without opening the hinged door and without projecting from the peripheral line of the vehicle body. The door 10 is hinged at 11 to the vehicle body so that when closed it covers an emergency opening at the forward end of a passenger compartment and the opening to the driver's cab. The main part of the door terminates adjacent the body forward bulkhead 12 but the upper and lower parts 13 and 14 overhang forwardly. The upper part 13 carries a rail 15 from which is suspended, by means of rollers, a sliding door 17 provided at its lower edge with a groove to engage a guide rail 16. In normal operation of the vehicle, ingress and egress to and from the driver's cab is obtained by means of the sliding door 17, whereas an emergency exit may be made from the passenger compartment and the driver's cab by opening the hinged door 10.
