Abstract

A basic lining for high temperature furnaces consists of an intimate mixture of finely-ground dead burnt dolomite or magnesite and petroleum jelly. The petroleum jelly may be in the proportion of between 0.5-2.5 per cent by weight of the mixture and may be the jelly referred to as dark green petrolatum. Materials such as graphite may be added to the mixture.
