[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 24, 1947.] [Class 109] [Also in Group XXII] A band or strip 1 axially provided with spaced holes 3 at regular intervals, has its sides of such a form, e.g. wavy, that its cross - section throughout the entire length has equal stretching and bending resistance, e.g. is of the same dimension throughout. The band is of relatively rigid material such as iron, steel, brass, copper, hardened rubber or caoutchouc. Two or more such bands, 1, 2, may be joined together by suitable clips, either in such a manner that the holes in the bands coincide or that a hole in one band lies between a pair of holes of the other band. A suitable clip for the former connection comprises a U-shaped member 5 having its base of the same width as the narrowest part of the band and with its legs bent around the overlapping bands. A suitable clip for the latter connection comprises a combined clip-split pin having a base 6, Fig. 3, of the same width as the narrowest part of one band around which it is fitted, and a pair of legs 7, 8 for insertion into a hole of the overlapping band, the legs then being splayed apart as at 10, 11. The bands may be used for tying parts together, to make suspension brackets for tubes or pipes, for securing ceiling suspensions, angle irons &c. Applied to a suspension bracket for a tube, a length of the band 27, Fig. 4, is bent to the shape of the tube and its free ends provided with lugs 28, 29 for attachment by a bolt 30 to another length of the band 31 acting as a suspension strap. The free end of the latter is bent downwardly so that a suspension hook 33, may pass through two holes. In another form, the part 27 and the suspension strap 31 are bent up from a single length of the band, the bolt 30 being replaced by the combined clip-split pin of Fig. 3. The free end of the suspension strap in this case is bent over to form a loop which is anchored by the U-shaped clip described above.
