601,698. Plant supports. PARKIN, G., and ALLSOP, H. March 15, 1946, No. 17886/45. [Classes 6(ii) and 45] [Also in Group XV] Metal units for use in the construction of plant supports, fencing and other structures comprise rods 1, Fig. 1, having a pair of grooves 2 at one or both ends for securing the rod in one of the slots 12, Fig. 6, of a connecting member 7 each end of the rod 1 having bevels 3 and a channel 4 for allowing the vertical rod 1 to be passed completely through the connecting member 7, holes 10 being provided for this purpose. Clips 14 prevent any axial displacement of the rods 1 and are provided with means for fastening string or the like. To connect the rods 1 together at any desired angle, tubular connecting means are used in addition to members 7 having a loop at each end formed integrally with the member to enable them to be slid over the rod 1. Alternatively the ends may be formed as a clip to be sprung over the rod 1.
