Abstract

<PICT:0645427/IV (c)/1> <PICT:0645427/IV (c)/2> A setting apparatus comprises a cabinet 10 closed by doors 15 and which is formed of an inner and outer metal shell with an intervening air space. Steam is supplied to a space between the upper and lower shells of the bottom wall through a pipe 23 and flows upwardly around the plate 19. The doors are fitted with sealing strips 25 so as to make a fluid-tight joint when they are closed and can be locked in closed position by the locking bolt 26. The rear wall 13 is provided with an opening 30 through which air may be driven by the fan 32. The circular opening 35 connected to pipe 36 permits steam to be exhausted when air is p driven into the cabinet by the fan 32. The hosiery to be treated are suspended from a truck 53 during the heat-treating operation. The valves for admitting and exhausting steam to and from the chamber are electrically controlled solenoid-operated valves which are controlled by a door operated switch.
