[Class 84] A transportable milking-machine unit comprises a motor-driven vacuum pump and a milk container and is characterized by a number of arms turnable about a common shaft, each of said arms comprising pipes or channels for connecting the vacuum pump with milking organs, the free ends of said arms being connected to the said milking organs by flexible pipes or hoses. In the figure, swinging arms 3 are concentrically supported by a vertical shaft 5 so as to be turnable in a horizontal plane about the shaft. These shafts carry hoses 7, each being connected to the milking organs on a cow. Each arm or part of each arm may be turnable in a vertical direction, being guided in this movement by a rail (not shown). A milk container 2 is mounted, e.g. in such a way as to be conveniently exchangeable, on a housing 1 containing the vacuum pump. The whole unit may be automatically propelled and a coupling device may be provided by which the vacuum pump motor is connected to one or more of the wheels of the unit when one of the arms is swung to transfer a milking organ from one cow to another, the unit being thereby moved a certain distance equal, for example, to one stall breadth. This movement may be guided by the manure channel in the cow house.
