Abstract

[Also in Division B1] An electric stirring device comprises a blower 1 (conveniently a vacuum cleaner), driving a rotary agitator 6 located in a washing vessel 7; the agitator shaft is hollow and open at both ends and means are provided to pass the air blast through it to assist agitation. As shown in Fig. 2 a reduction gear-box 2 drives the agitator through a belt transmission enclosed in a telescopic casing 4 1 , 4 2 whereby the height of the agitator in the vessel may be adjusted. Alternatively the suspension hook 7 may be adjustable along the tube 4. The air blast may be conducted to the hollow agitator shaft 12, Fig. 3, by a flexible connection 11 or through the casing 4. The embodiment of Fig. 2 may be used for washing linen. The gear-box 2 may be connected by a flexible drive to the casing 4. A baffle may be arranged in front of the agitator 6, which may rotate about a vertical axis, see Fig. 4 (not shown).
