756,304. Earth-excavating apparatus. SPENCER ALLEN MOTORS. Ltd. Nov. 15, 1954, No. 33021/54. Class 68(1) An earth-excavating appliance-supporting outrigger comprises a telescopic boom attached to a vehicle by a universal coupling means comprising a shaft 6 mounted in a bracket 4 rotatably mounted about a vertical shaft 3 extending - between brackets 2 secured to the vehicle. The boom can be rotated about the shaft 6 by a jack A and extended and contracted by a jack B, and is held, when in use, at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle by a stay 27. The appliance, e.g. a shovel, is supported from means 39-47 secured to the tubes 7, 8 of the boom, which may be provided with one or more supporting wheels at the free end.
