645,150. Obtaining high vacua. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. Dec. 31, 1947, No. 35178. Convention date, May 27, 1939. [Class 8(i)] [Also in Group XL(a)] For liberating barium in a closed space as in gettering " discharge tubes or incandescant lamps, there is employed a mixture of barium peroxide and metallic zirconium, hafnium, titanium or thorium, with oxide of cerium, lanthanum or thorium as, a diluent, the last ingredient being preferably not more-than 50 per cent of the whole. The metal should be in sufficient quantity to fix all the oxygen of the peroxide, and an example is given. The mixture may be compressed into pastilles The subject-matter is identical with that of Specification 546,048.
