Abstract
645,066. Drafting apparatus for textile fibres. DELESALLE, C. Nov. 3, 1947. No. 29332. Convention date, Oct. 9, 1946. [Class 120(ii)] A two-zone, double-apron drafting device has the lower feed and intermediate rollers 1, 2 arranged so close together that the distance between the axes is shorter than the average length of the fibres and has the pressure feed roller 3 displaced towards the rear of the lower feed roller 1, in order that the fibres will be held in contact with the latter over a substantial part of its circumference. Additionally, the lower apron 4 is stretched over a convex surface 8, by which at least a third of its fibre-contacting run is supported, and the upper apron 5 is held in contact with the lower apron 4 by means of an adjustable tensioning device, so as to apply substantially uniform pressure to the fibres upon that portion of the lower apron 4 supported by the curved surface 8. The lower apron 4 may be tensioned by a device 7. Condensers 12, 13 may be freely mounted on a traversable supporting member 14, which also carries a sliver guiding and tensioning device 15. Pressure is applied to upper rollers 16, 17 by a resilient hook 18, adjustable by means of a nut 20, or in any other manner. The end of the hook 18 is attached to a saddle 21 by a pressure release lever 22. Two upper rollers 23, 24 and two lower rollers 25, 26 may be employed for cleaning the drafting rollers. When very short fibres have to be controlled, a small, freelymounted pressure roller 27 is arranged to act against the feed roller 1. Feed roller 1 may be driven through a worm from the intermediate roller 2.
