644,972. Chills and denseners; casting composite articles; building up articles by spraying. COHEN SONS & CO., Ltd., G., and LEVY, F. L. Sept. 18, 1948, No. 24504. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 83 (i) and 83 (iv)] A chill or densener is formed in a mould by spraying powder of a metal of the periodic series including chromium, nickel and iron. The layer may vary in thickness and extent or be uniform and 0.02 inch thick in which case the layer becomes a sintered coating on the casting. If the layer is thick, e.g. ¢ inch, it may be keyed to the sand by first forming recesses therein.
