644,572. Electromagnetic clutches. HOLT, Ltd., T., and WOODS, C. W. Nov. 22, 1946, No. 34737. [Class 35] The co-operating parts on an electromagnetic clutch comprise a D.C. armature 14 and a ring of wound poles 12, 13 fed bv an exciter 10 whose relatively rotatable members are also driven from the two parts of the clutch so that the excitation increases with the slip. The armature 14 may be short-circuited as shown or it may energize a further winding on the poles 12, 13. The device is controlled by a rheostat 11.
