[Class 141] A tailor's device for measuring a customer for coats and similar garments as described in Specifications 452,793, 453,392, 453,393 and 453,394 has the following additional features. The waist tape 2 is indirectly coupled for vertical and circumferential adjustment to the tail ends 16, 17 of index plates 1<SP>1</SP>, 2' by means of inwardly displaceable spring tongues 50, 54 which are rivetted at their ends to the tails 16, 17 respectively. A collar fitment comprising a body part 110 which carries a vertically adjustable collar stand gauge 118 has adjustably mounted end extension pieces 112, 111 to which are anchored the fixed ends of front and back overshoulder tapes 10, 12 and 11, 13 and the shoulder width tapes 8 and 9 respectively, and guide means comprising slots 122 for the over-shoulder-tape 6. The front-overshoulder tapes 10, 11 are clampable in a fitment 87 slidable along the chest tape 1 and having a tail extension part 92 with fitments 93, 94 clampable along its length and slidable along waist and seat tapes 2 and 3 respectively. The back-over-shoulder tapes 12 and 13 are clampable in fitments 95 and 96 which are slidable along the chest tape 1 which has one end anchored for vertical adjustment in a slot 58 formed in an extension part of the arm 18 of the index plate 1<SP>1</SP>. The chest tape 1 also passes beneath a clamping nut and washer situated between bridgeing pieces on the index plate 2<SP>1</SP>.
