[Class 141] A measuring device for use by tailors comprises a graduated rule member 1 which is applied vertically to, and is conformable to the curvature of, the customer's back, pairs of arms 4, 4<a> and 5, 5<a> which are independently adjustable on the rule 1, waist members 6, 6<a> adjustable together on the rule, and a seat member 7. The rule 1 is held by a hook 3 which engages the customer's collar, and comprises three strips held together by clamps 20, the centre strip being graduated and the outer strips forming guides for the brackets 9, 14, 15 of the adjustable members. The members are all capable of flexure in a horizontal plane, the arms 4, 4<a> are telescopic and carry at their outer ends members 8 for engaging the points of the shoulders, and the arms 5, 5<a> carry adjustable scye members 10. In use, the arms 4, 4<a> are set to the shoulder height and expanded so that the members 8 engage the shoulder points. The scye members 10 are engaged under the arms and held by tapes attached to studs 12 and passing in front of the body. Shoulder, scye, and chest measurements are taken by tape measures attached to studs 11. The members 6, 6<a> are held to the body by a tape measure connecting the studs 16. A bracket 17 at the foot of the rule carries a measuring tape 18 used for ascertaining overcoat or other lengths.
