Abstract

365,836. Tailors' measuring apparatus. CARACENI, D., 21, Via Boncompagni, Rome. Feb. 17, 1931, No. 5053. [Class 141.] An instrument for measuring the human form comprises a stand 2 having a telescopic section 3 which supports a measuring tape 10 and a protractor 6 of the form indicated. The protractor, which is shaped to fit under the armpit, is provided with a rigid scale 8 shaped to the back and with a tape measure 9 pivoted 'at 7. The tape 10 is carried by a slider 5 which is adjusted to the most hollow part of the wearer's side and clamped thereat. A similar sliding clamp 4 fixes the protractor under the armpit of the person being measured. The rod 3 is cranked as indicated to support the protractor in the required position. The application of the protractor and tape 9 is shown in Fig. 6 for mapping out important points on the front of the trunk by means of lengths and angles.
