Abstract

643,638. Incandescent gas burners. TILLEY LAMP CO., Ltd., and COLLE, W. G. Aug. 11, 1948, No. 21137. [Class 75(i)] A soft tubular incandescent mantle assembly comprises a soft woven tubular element A containing the incandescent substance or substances and a resilient ring B lying within one end of the element A and to which said end is secured by a surrounding cord C having sufficient resilience to allow the ring B to be sprung on to the end of a burner tube D. The said end of the element A is turned inwards to fold over the securing cord C, and the other end of the element A is attached to a vapour supply tube D<SP>1</SP> by a cord A<SP>1</SP>. The ring B is formed from a strip of sheet metal the edges of which are turned over to form outwardly extending flanges having inturned edges, a tongue projecting from one end of the strip lying between and slidable longitudinally under the inturned edges of the flanges at the other end of the strip.
