Abstract

642,923. Automatic circuit - breakers. HEINEMANN ELECTRIC CO. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 21964. Convention date, March 27, 1942. [Class 38 (v)] In a trip-free circuit-breaker the tripping mechanism is counterweighted to prevent accidental tripping due to shocks or dynamic action when the circuitbreaker is mounted in or on a moving vehicle or object. The figures show the application of the invention to a circuitbreaker of the construction described in Specifications 21963/47 and 22246/49, (both open to inspection under Sect. 91) in which the contacts 1, 6 are closed by means of a handle 9 acting through latched toggle links 10, 11, and may be tripped open by the armature 24 of an electromagnet 29, 30 acting by means of a finger 25 on the latch. The armature 24 with its finger 25 is dynamically balanced by means of counterweights 28, Fig. 3, which are rigidly fixed to the shaft 27 on which the armature is fixed. The latch has a counterweight 18, Fig. 5, to balance the weight of the latch arm 20 which is engaged by the finger 25.
