Abstract
642,449. Toothed gearing. METAL BOX CO., Ltd., and JACKSON, J. M. Jan, 14, 1948, No. 1202. [Class 80(i)] [Also in Group XV] A driving mechanism includes a pair of rotatably mounted meshing gears, one gear being axially displaceable relative to the other and resiliently urged into mesh with said other gear, characterized in that the meshing relation between the gears is determined by the engagement of locating surfaces provided respectively one on each of the gears. The invention is applied to a clockwork motor, as described in Specification 612,582, [Group XV], and as shown in Fig. 2, where a crown gear 1 meshes with a pinion 8 integral with a track wheel 9, correct engagement between the gears being ensured by the engaging surfaces 13,. 14. The spindle 2, which carries the crown wheel 1, floats axially and a spring 12 holds. the wheel 1 in mesh with the pinion 8.
