[Class 110(ii] In a rotary machine of the type described in Specifications 394,296 and 449,390, control means for guiding the movements of the abutment tip around the periphery of the rotor 2 comprises at least one guide, other than the rotor periphery, to cause inward and outward movements of the abutment. Double cams 9, 13 control rollers 8, 12 in levers 7, 11, the latter having an extension 15 which is spring-mounted between the forked ends 14 of the lever 7. The rotor 2 has four vanes which cooperate with a hinged abutment 4 mounted on a shaft 5. The cams 9, 13 are rigidly fixed to the main shaft 3. The lever 7 is firmly fixed to the shaft 5 and the lever 11 mounted on a bush 10 on which it can oscillate. The springs 17 may be adjusted by screws 18, 19 for taking up wear between the abutment tip and the rotor. Fig. 5 shows a modification, used as a meter, in which two rotors 25, 26 operate in axially-displaced chamber 36. Control cams for the abutments and control levers are provided at the outer ends of the shafts.
