Abstract

641,124. Centrifugal pumps. CHERRYBUR;RELL CORPORATION. May 3, 1948, No. 12076. Convention date, Oct. 21, 1947, [Class 110(i)] A centrifugal evacuating pump for use in vacuum type bottle filling machines is constructed to permit ready dismantling and cleaning. The impeller comprises a central cone piece 6, a disc 3 which rests on a flange 8 of the piece 6 and a set of radial blades 18 which are integral with a coned hub 11. The disc 3 has a troughed rim 20 which is slotted to receive the ends of the blades 18. The extreme rim portion 22 is not slotted and forms an abutment for the blade tips. The cone piece 6 is splined to the shaft 27 of a motor 28 and the hub 11 carries three pins 9 that enter slots in the flange 8. A rubber or flexible metal washer 15 lies between the disc 3 and the flange 8. The casing 37 is supported from the base 1 by three screwed pil-. lars 39. The disc 3 may be cut and deformed about the central hole to provide a resilient holding without the use of a washer 15.
