Abstract
641,088. Brakes for aircraft landing wheels. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BUTLER, H. J. April 23, 1947, No. 10804. [Class 4] [Also in Group XXXIV] A brake assembly for an aircraft landing wheel comprises an axle 5 mounted in bearings 3, 4 carried by a bifurcated arm 2 at the lower end of the oleo strut 1, a brake 8 mounted within the wheel 6, and an additional, separate brake 9 associated with a portion of the axle exterior of the wheel. The drums of the brakes 8, 9 are bolted to the wheel disc 6 and a flanged sleeve 10 fixed to the axle, respectively, annular channel-shaped members 11, 12 bolted on opposite sides of the arm portion adjacent the wheel carrying distensible tubes 14 for applying the shoes 13.
