Abstract
640,415. Centrifugal governors. C.A.V., Ltd. March 8, 1948, No. 7069. [Class 57] In a centrifugal governor for a fuel injection pump, of the type in which a pair of centrifugal weights b are each adapted to be loaded by a spring c for controlling the idling speed of the engine and by two springs c, d in combination for controlling the maximum speed, the centrifugal masses are connected to the pump control rod, n, whose maximum fuel position is determined by a stop r, through a lever and/or spring controlled lost motion connection o. m which is adapted to be temporarily operative at the instant the centrifugal masses come under the action of both of the loading springs so as to prevent any oscillations of the masses being transmitted to the control rod. The lever g has an adjustable fulcrum h connected to a lever i which is adapted to be moved by the operator against one or other of stops j, k for determining the maximum or idling speed setting. A lever t is adapted to move the pump control rod independently of the governor for interrupting the fuel supply.
