[Class 141] A tensioning device for the waistbands of garments comprises two spaced pouches housing a pair of supporting members of corresponding dimensions, similar to those described in the parent Specification, and a-separate connecting link for attachment to the supporting members. As shown in Fig. 1, the supporting members. c, c<SP>1</SP> comprise metal base plates 10 having spring tongues 13 to hold them in the pouches B, B<SP>1</SP>. A strap D of leather, rubber &c., having holes 14 engaged by pins 12 on the plates 10 forms the connecting link. In an alternative construction, the base 10 is provided with a number of spaced pins adapted to be selectively engaged by a connecting link having loops at its ends. In another construction, Fig. 3, each base plate 10 is doubled back to form a tongue 16 the tip of which constitutes a hook 17 adapted to engage an eye 19 on a connecting link D<SP>2</SP> comprising a rubber band 18. Alternatively, eyes may be provided on the tongues 16 and the connecting link, which may comprise a flat coil spring, has its ends formed with hooks, or the tongues 16 may have press stud elements adapted to engage corresponding elements on the connecting link. In a further construction, the supporting members may comprise resilient wire frames, a hook being formed in one and an eye in the other adapted to engage corresponding frame members provided on the ends of the connecting link. Any of the supporting elements described may be sewn into the pouches instead of being held therein by resilient tongues. The connecting link may be made adjustable in length if required.
