Abstract

640,273. Bowden mechanism. FRASERTUSON PRODUCTS, Ltd., FRASER, R., and TUSON, V. H. July 14, 1947, No. 18736. [Class 80(iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] In a floor scrubbing or polishing machine (see Group XXIII), a lever 60 is connected by a stirrup 59 to the inner wire 57 of a Bowden cable, the other end of the wire being connected to a spring biassed lowering pin (not shown). The outer sleeve 58 of the Bowden cable is fixed adjacent to the lever and at the other end abuts a plunger 63 retained by a compression spring 65 at one end of a hollow adjusting screw 64. When the lever is moved to the raised position the operative movement of the lowering pin is determined by the relative reactions of the biassing spring and the compression spring, this movement being adjustable by the position of the threaded adjusting screw on a fixed support 47.
