Abstract

640,199. Constructional toys. KAYE, E. Jan. 3, 1948, No. 227. [Class 132 (iii)] A toy building comprises a floor, walls and roof formed of separate sheets of material, edge portions at the lower edges of the walls being bent at right angles to form flanges attachable to the edge portions of the floor by forming one set of these elements as channels into which the other set can be pushed so as to engage frictionally. The top edges of the walls are provided with integral projections, and the roof is provided with slots, so that the roof can be pushed down with the projections on the walls engaging the slots so as to lock the walls in the erect position. As shown the building comprises four wall panels 10, 11, 12 and 13, a floor panel 14 and a roof panel 15. The floor has its edge portions 5 doubled back inwardly upon itself to provide an inwardly directed channel 16 which is wide enough to grip frictionally an outward flange 17 at the lower edge of each wall. Two walls 10, 11 may have opposite vertical edges 18 bent at right angles to engage the outer sides of the other walls. All walls are provided with integral projections 19 in the plane of the panel, and the roof member 15 is formed with slots 20 which slots engage the projections on the panels when the roof member is placed in position. The front wall 10 may be provided with windows and doors, each comprising a rectangular frame 21 pressed to simulate mouldings and riveted at 22 to the wall 10. The inside of each frame is provided with lugs 23 to prevent the door 25 or window 24 being pushed through the aperture. The frames are also provided with other lugs 26 which act as hinge mountings for the door or window. The window may be formed with openings 28 of diamond or other shape and be provided with a celluloid backing sheet Fastenings comprising a finger piece 30 and arms 31 which engage the inside of the frame to secure the door are also provided. The structure may be of sheet metal, plastic or strawboard. Specification 640,198 is referred to.
