Abstract

639,613. Mixing apparatus. BUSS AKT.- GES. Nov. 5, 1947, No. 29525. Convention date, July 13, 1946. [Class 86] Z-shaped stirrers for a trough mixer are mounted at each end in two bearings to prevent bending in and avoid leakage at the stuffing boxes. The stub shafts of the stirrers 6, 7 are each mounted in a stuffing box 2a &c. and in a bearing comprising two rolling races 9. The races 9 may be replaced by sleeve bearings or a combination of rolling and sleeve bearings may be used. In a modification, the driving gear wheel is placed on the stub shaft, between the two bearings, and the whole enclosed in a fluid-tight casing filled with oil.
