Abstract

233,821. Hood, J. L. March 5, 1924. Mixers with stirrers having complex motions.-In a mixing-machine of the kind described in Specification 8640/07, in which the beaters rotate about horizontal shafts which rotate in turn about a vertical shaft, means are provided for preventing egress of lubricant into the mixture, and ingress of the mixture into the bearings. The vertical shaft 2 rotates within a fixed sleeve 10 which projects into a channel 13 in the driving bevel wheel 14, Fig. 3, and into a channel 8, Fig. 4, in a member 9 joining the radial arms 3 on which the beaters rotate. The beaters are mounted on .sleeves 4 driven by bevel gears 6, 8. The gear 14 is driven from a horizontal shaft, the bearing for which has a longitudinal groove for retaining lubricant.
