Abstract

639,286. Harvesting root crops. SMITH, T. S. Jan. 8, 1948, No. 632. [Class 6 (iii)] In a root-crop harvester having a share 1 feeding an endless conveyer 9, the share has side cheeks 2 co-operating with rotary haulmcutting discs 6 which form the end plates of the lower roller 11 of the conveyer. The share is pivoted at 4 on the side frames 5 of the machine and is spring-loaded by springs 12. Excessive rearward movement of the share can be used to stop the forward drive of the machine. The cheeks 2 have forwardly-projecting points 2 and additional teeth 8 project from the centre of the share. The discs 6 may be serrated. Specification 633,573 is referred to.
