The transverse pick-up handle comprises a pair of half-section members 67, 68 clamped together to engage bosses 71 formed on the legs of the housing 34 and the U-shaped member 59. The hand grip 33 comprises upper and lower halves 76, 86, Fig. 11, the convergent ends of the tubes 31, 32 being secured to the member 76 by a strap-like clamp 74. The trunnion arms 26, 27 by which means the housing 34 is pivotally attached to the chassis of the cleaner (not shown) are slidably received within and releasable from the housing. The handle assembly is locked in any one of several positions by a spring-loaded latch 53 engageable in detents in the chassis and controlled from a trigger 99 in the hand grip 33 by a wire 58 which passes through the tube 32.
