638,824. Hand sewing-tools. ETABLISSEMENTS VITOUX. Sept. 6, 1946, No. 26774. Convention date, April 11, 1940. [Class 112] In a relooping needle comprising a body 1, with a hook, and a latch 3 pivoted at 4 and moved by the action of the thread, the body is provided in the lower part with a ramp 9 which in combination with the adjacent part of the latch 3 forms an angle in which the lower thread engages to lift the latch when the needle is moved in one direction, so that the upper thread is guided into a slot 6 in the latch. In the form shown, in which the latch has a lower projection 8, the incline 9 connects two straight surfaces of the body, and the body is also formed with a parallel incline 10 to retard the movement of the loop down the body. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the lower side of the member 3 is flat, and the lower side of the body 1 is formed with a hollow to bring the thread into contact with the latch, one side of the hollow forming the ramp.
