A needle-threader comprises in combination a casing 13 having a passage 15 in which a guide 30 is reciprocably mounted, a spring 28 to urge the guide into the retracted position shown, a hook 40 having a thread receiving end 43 normally positioned adjacent the passage and engaging the guide, a second weaker spring 45 adapted to project the end 43 across the passage and through the eye of a needle 20 and a threadreceiving slot which intersects the passage whereby the hook receives a thread which is drawn through the eye of the needle as the stronger spring 28 retracts the guide and the hook which is pivotably mounted to move parallel to the passage so as to thread different needles. The casing is in two parts and made of wood, metal or synthetic resin. The upward movement of the guide is limited by a button 32. The hook 40 has a slot 47 to permit pivoting about a pin 42 so that when its end 43 is urged into the eye of the needle it may continue in its downward movement due to the " lost-motion " effect resulting therefrom.
