Abstract

637,570. Furniture joints. WINTERTON, R. E. Jan. 18, 1949, No. 1363. [Class 52 (ii)] In a corner joint comprising rigidly securing two top frame members and a stress or leg member the leg member 8 partially envelops the corner frame members 2, 3 of the top 1 and is secured thereto while a stress plate 9 carried by the leg member 8 supports the frame members 2, 3 and is secured thereto either directly or by means of a bracket 11, cross plate 14 and a bolt. A cross plate 17 connecting the upper flanges 4, 6 of the frame members 2, 3 may have turned-down spaced flanges 18, 19 to engage the upper edges of the leg member 8. Other means are described for securing the top of the lug member 8 to the frame members 2, 3 including members such as 22, 23, Fig. 4, secured to the frame members 2, 3 and having spaced edges slidably engaged by turnedin edges of the member 8.
