Abstract

661,161. Furniture frames. POTTER, Ltd., W., and POTTER, W. H. March 31, 1950. [Jan. 28, 1946] No. 2783/46. Class 52 (ii). An article of furniture comprises a hollow frame of box or like section, a detachable member secured to and supported by said frame and detachable legs adapted to be rigidly secured to the frame whereby the said member is substantially free from stresses transmitted by the legs. As shown a metal frame 1 of box section has a flange 2 and across the corners of the frame are welded or otherwise secured braces three of hollow box section the inner face of each brace extending downwardly as a flange 4. The brace and the adjacent sides of the frame 1 form recesses 5 within which are secured legs of corresponding cross section to the recesses 5 by screws &c. The detachable top which may be a table top comprises a sheet metal panel 6 having inturned edges the lower flange of which is connectible to the flange 2 by screws 8.
