Abstract
637,546. Linings for open moulds. BURREN, F. J., and JOHNSTON, E. R. Aug. 11, 1947, No. 22306. [Class 87 (ii)] A mould for forming concrete blocks comprises an open box-like structure the bottom 10 of which corresponds approximately in shape and size to one face of the block, two adjacent side walls 11, 12 each having inner faces substantially at right angles to the bottom, the other two side walls 13, 14 having inner faces inclined outwardly as they extend away from the bottom, so as to leave a wedge-shape gap between them and the finished block, and wedge-shaped filling pieces 19, 20 for filling the gap. The wedges 19, 20 may be in one L-shaped piece and may rest with their thin ends in grooves 17, their top faces being flush with the top faces of the mould walls. For producing a number of blocks simultaneously the mould may be divided into compartments each provided with a wedge-shaped filling piece or pieces.
