Abstract

564,304. Making glass building- blocks. WILLIAMS, J. H. June 22, 1943, No. 10062. [Class 56] In the manufacture of a hollow glass block, two half - blocks are formed in a pair of moulds 4 in holders 3 which are tilted by pneumatic or other means about pivots 6 to parallel vertical positions and then moved towards each other rectilinearly along guides 8 to bring the edges of the half-blocks into contact. Charges of glass in the moulds are pressed simultaneously by plungers 17 operated by fluid-pressure cylinders 19, the plungers being so formed that the edges of the walls of the block project beyond the edges of the mould. The. moulds may be charged simultaneously by means of a double punty similar to that described in Specification 550,855 and U.S.A. Specifications 2,247,424 and 2,250,515.
