[Class 87 (ii)] A machine for moulding concrete building units, of the type shown in Fig. 2, having spaced blocks 15 and 16 comprises a mould having side walls 28, Fig. 3, and a fixed base 27, a core 30 which is fixed to the base and supports ties 19 which join'the blocks, a movable base 32 on which the unit is moulded and through which the core 30 projects, and means for raising the base 32. Liners 35 and 36, Fig. 6, are pivoted to the movable base 32, so that they fall outwards when the base is raised. The ties 19 rest in slots 31 in the core 30. The unit is moulded on a pallet 37 and a similar frame 38 is used to vary the depth of the mould. The concrete in the mould is tamped by a tamper 39 and when it has set the movable base 32 is raised by means of pivoted links 33 and a foot lever to the position shown in Fig. 5, allowing the unit to be removed. In a modification, Fig. 8, the core has a central fixed part 42 and end parts 43 carried by the ends of the mould. The parts 43 have grooves 44 which receive the ties 19. Longitudinal strips 38 are used to support a pallet (not shown). L- shape corner clocks may be made by having a suitably shaped mould in which one of the end parts of the core is fixed to a side wall of the mould. An alternative form of pallet has two longitudinal members connected by wires which extend through the slots 31 in the core.
