572,388. Moulding pre - stressed reinforced concrete sleepers, beams, &c. DOWSETT ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION, Ltd., LESTER, D. R., and BARBER, R. S. V. April 12, 1943, No. 5846. [Class 87 (ii)] Reinforcing wires are tensioned above production lines arranged in tiers between walls 12. Pairs of mould tracks 13, 14, 15 project inwardly from each wall and longitudinally on either side of a filling and vibrating station A which includes a concrete-containing hopper 19, a vertically-movable vibratory table 23 and an elevator 35. The hopper; table and elevator run on tracks transversely to the production lines. In operation, wires 18 are tensioned along the production lines and the elevator 35, operated by electric motor 38 and cables 39, raises empty moulds from tier 14 to tier 15. The moulds are then pushed to the right, Fig. 1, on to a platform 30 below the hopper which, discharging through two openings, fills two moulds simultaneously. During filling, the moulds are vibrated by the engagement of the table 23 with the platform 30, the table 23 being raised by electric motors 26 and cables 27 and locked to the steel uprights by clamps 28. After filling, the moulds are moved off along the tracks to a setting and hardening station, where they may be revibrated with a portable vibrator. The tier 14 is filled from tier 13, and so on. In an alternative method, the moulds may be filled in the position where the concrete is to set and harden. The hopper discharge shoot may be movable vertically to serve any tier.
