Abstract

691,323. Reinforced concrete. NILSSON, A. B. Sept. 29, 1950, No. 23855/50. Class. 20(iv) [Also in Group V] Concrete is cast into a tubular mould 4 and vibrated by a vibrator 21. The moulded concrete member is then removed from the bottom of the mould, passed through a steam curing chamber and carried off on a wagon. The casting may be done in one or more stages or continuously. Reinforcing wires 14 on a drum 6 are incorporated in the members by passing them through distribution plates 11, 8, 10. The lower ends of the wires have weights 19 to keep thewires straight and to cause the wires to move downwardly through the mould. Weights may be removed as the member is cast, to compensate for the weight of themember, and the weights may be dispensed with when one member has been formed. Movement of the wires is prevented during casting by a brake on the drum 6. End plates 12 are stored above the mould and released one at a time to form a bottom for the mould, and for the moulded member. The mould is preferably of such a length that the steam curing does not take place until the concrete has partly hardened. In .a modified construction, Fig. 4, a core 26 is. provided for forming pipes. The concrete is vibrated by a vibrator 27 fixed to the mould. Adjacent members may be interconnected by chains, Fig. 7 (not shown), which are attached to bands on the member. The bands may have rollers which engage cam rails to bring the members from a vertical to a horizontal position on delivery.
