Abstract

637,468. Swivelling joints; suction nozzles. HOOVER, Ltd. Aug. 14, 1947, No. 22654. Convention date. Aug. 15, 1946. [Classes 8(i) and 99(i)] A rotary joint connection a rubber &c. socket 12 to a spigot 49 comprises a split sleeve which is formed, as shown, of two semi-cylindrical parts 42, 43 and is prevented from rotation by the resilient grip thereof, flanges 45, 46 being provided on the sleeve and co-acting shoulders 50, 51 on the spigot 49 to prevent relative longitudinal movement. The flanges 45, 46 engage a shoulder 47 and the end 48 on the socket 12 respectively. The joint is shown applied to a suction cleaner whose nozzle 10 is integral with the member 12 to which is fixed a brush 11 having ducts 23, 20 communicating with the container via the hollow spigot 49 and a hose attachment.
