Abstract
637,321. Ovens. CORNELL, N. A. July 18 1947, No. 19344. [Class 126] [Also in Group VI] An enclosed cooking vessel 11 to be set over a fire, gas ring &c. has a bottom consisting of two metal plates 12 and 13 secured together and partially heat insulated from one another, e.g. by an air space or by an asbestos sheet 14, the vessel also having a support to hold the food or container clear of the bottom. Such support may comprise a tray-supporting wire cage 17, with a folding down handle 21, all insertable at the top when the lid 22 is removed. The bottom may have an additional outer iron bottom plate 15. The additional bottom may be riveted or spun over a flange at the bottom rim of the vessel. The lid has a mica or glass window 23. The inner bottom may be of good conducting metal e.g. aluminium or copper, the outer plate 13 being of steel. A food steamer may be placed at the top and covered with the same lid. An electric heating element may be included in the bottom. Specifications 178,753. [Class 66], and 286,297, [Class 126], are referred to.
