Abstract
637,298. Walls slabs. STEAD, R. G. Aug. 19, 1947, No. 27780/46. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] Wall slabs are fixed to one another or to a supporting member by projecting headed lugs which are inserted and slid in keyhole-shaped slots, each slot having a wedge-surface, or being positioned to create a wedging action, on the lug throughout the full length of the narrow portion of the slot so that the slabs are drawn into close contact with one another or the supporting member. As shown in Fig. 2, a double wall comprises concrete slabs 1 each having two lugs 2 near each side end hooked around reinforcing rods 7 and projecting into slots 3 in flanges of steel channel uprights 4. Wedge-shaped projections 5 are provided for each slot. In another form (Fig. 3), the lugs are bent at right angles and engage inclined slots 11 in the web of the channel. They may be integral with the slab reinforcements. Figs. 5 and 7 show a method of connecting together two tongued and grooved slabs in which the slots are provided in metal fittings 15 having holes 16 through which a reinforcing rod 17 is threaded. Slabs may be similarly connected to concrete columns. The fitting 15 may have additional side flanges to receive a horizontal reinforcing rod.
