Abstract

636,923. Heating air. SPEARING, K. A. Sept. 10, 1947, Nos. 24869 and 28876. '[Class 64(iii)] [Also in Group XXVI] According to the Provisional Specification heaters 26, for heating primary air for a boiler 10 by steam bled from successive stages of a turbine 11 (see Group XXVI), may consist of three series of extended surface tubes, each series being coupled through headers so as to be in parallel whilst the three series are effectively in sequence, it being arranged that steam from the highest pressure turbine stage 16 flows through three series of tubes, steam from the second stage 17 flows through the second and third series only and steam from the third stage 18 flows through the third series only. The outlets from the headers to the tubes of the succeeding series are arranged to allow any condensate to pass through the tubes by at least one of the outlets extending almost to the bottom of the header.
