Abstract

636,888. Vibrating mechanism. PETERSON, E. F. March 5, 1947, No. 6260. Convention date, June 26, 1946. [Class 80 (iv)] A vibrator, more particularly for attachment to moulding apparatus, comprises a hollow cylindrical body 1 formed with a ring-shaped hard metal raceway 11 having in its inner surface a groove connected with a tangential air inlet 2a and a ball 10 rollable round the raceway to cause vibration of the body. A cover plate 6 secured to the body by a bolt 7 has an opening 9 larger than required for the bolt 7 so as to leave an annular opening for escape of air by way of approximately radial passages 16 crossed by a circular groove which may receive wool packing 14 to prevent the entry of dirt. A thin washer 8 covers these grooves. An attachment lug 3 is formed with two bolt holes 4a and 4b at right angles and with two sets of faces such as 5a forming a right angle to receive a corner of the apparatus to which the body is to be attached. By this means the body may be secured to the apparatus so as to vibrate in either a vertical or a horizontal plane.
