Abstract

636,601. Valve accessories. JOHANSSON, J. R. March 7, 1947, No. 6504. [Class 135] In an arrangement for connecting a valve member 2 to a valve stem 3 in which the valve member has a sleeve 4 embracing the end of the stem, two oppositely disposed locking members 7 mounted in the sleeve engage a groove 6 in the stem to prevent its withdrawal from the sleeve, the locking members being kept in place by a ring 10 surrounding the sleeve and secured against axial movement by a flange either formed integrally with the sleeve as at 15, Fig. 5, or formed as a resilient split ring 14, Fig. 1, engaging a groove in the sleeve. In the former case, the ring 10 is split to pass over the flange 15, its ends being connected by one or more dovetail projections and recesses 18, 19, Fig. 6, to permit expansion under stresses due to heating. The ring 10 may engage the outer ends of the locking members 7 as in Fig. 5, or it may have recesses to engage lateral slots 13. In Fig. 5, the locking members are withdrawn by a pin engaging a tapped boring 17.
